Addictions Counselling

For Adults

My approach is person-centred and empathic in order to understand what matters to you. It takes courage to ask for help, and together I will help you to achieve your goals. During a free, initial phone call, we’ll talk briefly about the issues you’re facing and see if I am a good fit for you. All sessions are a total of 50 minutes and are private and confidential. I follow the Addiction Professionals Code of Ethics, which can be found here.

Public
Speaking

If you are looking for a confident public speaker with an inspirational story, I am available for podcasts, radio and TV interviewsdocumentaries and face-to-face or online talks.

Please get in touch if you would like to discuss this service.

Topics include lived experience alcoholism, treatment, life in recovery and motherhood.

FAQ

How many sessions should I have?

This will vary, depending on your level of need and how well you feel you are progressing. We will review the sessions at regular intervals.

How long does each counselling session last?

Each session will usually last 50 minutes. However, this can be flexible and will be discussed before attending the first session.

How regular are the sessions?

Many people find it helpful to start with weekly sessions, but I also offer fortnightly and monthly sessions. It can vary depending on your personal requirements and will be arranged in advance of each session.

I'm worried about someone else

If you’re worried about someone else’s substance misuse, you’re probably wondering what you can do to help. If you think they would benefit from counselling, it is important to discuss this with them, but ultimately, it must be their decision to seek help.

If you are a friend or family member who’s finding it hard to cope with your current situation, I can support you using a no-blame approach. Addiction is a family illness and can devastate anyone within it.

Sarah, Vietnam

I am really happy to have had Anna as my therapist when I was going through some difficult times at work. But even after overcoming that work hump, I found her sessions to be extraordinarily helpful for me. I have been struggling with self-inflicted guilt and lack of self-confidence that stems from my upbringing and culture, and having sessions with Anna has given me the tools to do something about these self-deprecating thoughts and has reassured me how to deal with these issues and live a life that will enrich the relationships I have with people around me.
