About Anna

I have had my own struggles with alcoholism, so I understand that doing anything to excess will eventually come at great personal cost. After a couple of attempts at rehabilitation and much counselling, I found recovery and decided I wanted to help others to find their way out of addiction. I now hold a first-class degree in Addictions Counselling and I am an accredited member of the National Counselling Society and Addiction Professionals.

Having worked at two of the UK’s leading residential treatment centres as Addictions Counsellor, I became Senior Co-ordinator of the Amy Winehouse Foundation Resilience Programme – the largest ever randomised control trial on young people and substance misuse. I trained over 100 people in recovery from substance misuse and collectively, we reached over 22,000 students.

I was presented with a Marsh Christian Trust award for “Exceptional Individual in the Field of Recovery” in 2016. I am on the Board of Trustees of Downton 4 Family, a charity borne out of the experiences of both myself and my youngest son’s ex-foster carer, Dr Helen Holgate.

Now 16 years in recovery (a day at a time), I feel fearless, connected, contented and alive.  I really want to help you feel the same way.
